Is a crate necessary for a puppy?

I have been got a puppy aged around 12 weeks so very young. Is a crate necessary for my puppy?

Absolutely!

Until your puppy is fully trained, they should remain in a crate when no one's home and when you're sleeping so you don't come home finding things of yours chewed up. HOWEVER, you can't be gone for longer than 3 hours and they should be left with water and a few chew toys.

Also, get a crate large enough for him or her to walk around and stretch out in.

Puppy is crate trained and we leave his crate door open so he can go in and out of it as he pleases.
