@layls1071

i look at processors in this way,if you are looking at building a game p.c,or you want full throttle graphics then a a.m.d processor is your best bet
however if you are into c.a.d and office apps then go for a intel processor
i know all the hype at the moment is dual core this and dual core that but if you want to build a budget p.c you can get a 3ghz intel celeron processor for less than £40(http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=375263)this processor has a 3.2ghz cpu for less than £35
as for amd the clock speeds wont be as high as intel chips but as amd use a different nomenclature,a amd processor at 2.2ghz will work as fast as a 3.2ghz celeron
so i would go personally for the celeron or pentium 4 processors,as the core duo chips are just too expensive at the moment
when building your p.c,save money on the processor and then plough as much ram on your p.c as you can afford(at least over a gig)or 2gb if possible, and a good graphics card dosent have to break the bank, for example a geforce 6800xtreme (http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=555361)can be bought for less than £65 and this card will play any modern game at respectable frame rates
alltogether these components will make a excellent all round p.c capable of anything you throw at it
good luck with your build

hope this help's

replied the topic Which is the most healthy food ? created by SaphyreGod 638 days ago

1 - Apples
Apples are an excellent source of antioxidants, which combat free radicals. Free radicals are damaging substances generated in the body that cause undesirable changes and are involved in the aging process and some diseases.

Some animal studies have found that an antioxidant found in apples (polyphenols) might extend lifespans.

Researchers at The Florida State University said that apples are a "miracle fruit".

In their study, the investigators found that older women who starting a regime of eating apples daily experienced a 23 percent drop in levels of bad cholesterol (LDL) and a 4% increase in good cholesterol (HDL) after just six months.

2 - Almonds
Second on our list of top 10 healthy foods is almonds. Almonds are rich in nutrients, including magnesium, vitamin E, iron, calcium, fiber, and riboflavin. A scientific review published in Nutrition Reviews3 found that almonds as a food may help maintain healthy cholesterol levels.

The authors wrote:

"The message that almonds, in and of themselves, are a heart-healthy snack should be emphasized to consumers. Moreover, when almonds are incorporated into a healthy, balanced diet, the benefits are even greater."
Almonds have more fiber than any other tree nut.

The fatty acid profile of almonds, which is made up of 91-94% unsaturated fatty acids, may partly explain why it helps maintain healthy cholesterol levels.

3 - Broccoli
Broccoli is rich in fiber, calcium, potassium, folate and phytonutrients. Phytonutrients are compounds which reduce the risk of developing heart disease, diabetes and some cancers. Broccoli also contains vitamin C, as well as beta-carotene, an antioxidant.
A single 100 gram serving of broccoli can provide you with over 150 percent of the recommended daily intake of vitamin C, which in large doses can potentially shorten the duration of the common cold.7

Another ingredient, sulforphane, which exists in broccoli, is also said to have anti-cancer as well as anti-inflammatory qualities. However, overcooking can destroy most of the benefits.

4 - Blueberries
Blueberries are rich in fiber, antioxidants and phytonutrients. Phytonutrients are natural chemicals found in plants.

Unlike minerals and vitamins that are also found in plant foods, phytonutrients are not essential for keeping us alive. However, they may help prevent disease and keep the body working properly.

According to a study carried out at Harvard Medical School, elderly people who eat plenty of blueberries (and strawberries) are less likely to suffer from cognitive decline, compared to other people of their age who do not.10

Scientists at Texas Woman's University found that blueberries help in curbing obesity. Plant polyphenols, which are abundant in blueberries, have been shown to reduce the development of fat cells (adipogenesis), while inducing the breakdown of lipids and fat (lipolysis).

5 - Oily fish
Examples of oily fish include salmon, trout, mackerel, herring, sardines and anchovies.

These types of fish have oil in their tissues and around the gut. Their lean fillets contain up to 30% oil, specifically, omega-3 fatty acids. These oils are known to provide benefits for the heart, as well as the nervous system.

Oily fish are also known to provide benefits for patients with inflammatory conditions, such as arthritis.

Oily fish also contain vitamins A and D.

Scientists at UCLA's Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center found that prostate cancer progression was significantly slowed when patients went on a low-fat diet with fish oil supplements.

6 - Leafy green vegetables
Studies have shown that a high intake of dark-leafy vegetables, such as spinach or cabbage may significantly lower a person's risk of developing diabetes type 2.

Researchers at the University of Leicester, England, said that the impact of dark green vegetables on human health should be investigated further, after they gathered data from six studies. They reported their findings in the BMJ.16

Spinach, for example, is very rich in antioxidants, especially when uncooked, steamed or very lightly boiled. It is a good source of vitamins A, B6, C, E and K, as well as selenium, niacin, zinc, phosphorus, copper, folic acid, potassium, calcium, manganese, betaine, and iron.

7 - Sweet potatoes
Sweet potatoes are rich in dietary fiber, beta carotene, complex carbohydrates, vitamin C, vitamin B6, as well as carotene (the pink, yellow ones).

The Center for Science in the Public Interest, USA, compared the nutritional value of sweet potatoes to other vegetables.17 The sweet potato ranked number one, when vitamins A and C, iron, calcium, protein and complex carbohydrates were considered.

8 - Wheat germ
Wheat germ is the part of wheat that germinates to grow into a plant - the embryo of the seed. Germ, along with bran, is commonly a by-product of the milling; when cereals are refined, the germ and bran are often milled out.

Wheat germ is high in several vital nutrients, such as vitamin E, folic acid (folate), thiamin, zinc, magnesium, phosphorus, as well as fatty alcohols and essential fatty acids.

Wheat germ is also a good source of fiber.

9 - Avocados
Many people avoid avocados because of its high fat content; they believe that avoiding all fats leads to better health and easier-to-control body weight - this is a myth. Approximately 75% of the calories in an avocado come from fat; mostly monosaturated fat.

Avocados are also very rich in B vitamins, as well as vitamin K and vitamin E and have a very high fiber content of 25% soluble and 75% insoluble fiber.

Studies have shown that regular avocado consumption lowers blood cholesterol levels.

Avocado extracts are currently being studied in the laboratory to see whether they might be useful for treating diabetes or hypertension.

Researchers from Ohio State University found that nutrients taken from avocados were able to stop oral cancer cells, and even destroy some of the pre-cancerous cells.

Want to know more? Read our article looking at the health benefits of avocados.

10 - Oatmeal
Concluding our list of top 10 healthy foods is oatmeal. Oatmeal is meal made from rolled or ground oats. In the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, the term "porridge" or "porridge oats" are common terms for the breakfast cereal that is usually cooked.

Interest in oatmeal has increased considerably over the last twenty years because of its health benefits.

Studies have shown that if you eat a bowl of oatmeal everyday your blood cholesterol levels, especially if they are too high, will drop, because of the cereal's soluble fiber content. When findings were published in the 1980s, an "oat bran craze" spread across the USA and Western Europe. The oats craze dropped off in the 1990s.

In 1997, the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) agreed that foods with high levels of rolled oats or oat bran could include data on their labels about their cardiovascular heart benefits if accompanied with a low-fat diet. This was followed by another surge in oatmeal popularity.

Oats is rich in complex carbohydrates, as well as water-soluble fiber, which slow digestion down and stabilize levels of blood-glucose.

Oatmeal is very rich in B vitamins, omega-3 fatty acids, folate, and potassium. Coarse or steel-cut oats contain more fiber than instant varieties.

Hi,

Do these to clear corruption and repair/replace damaged/missing system files.

Start - type in Search box - COMMAND find at top of list - RIGHT CLICK - RUN AS ADMIN

sfc /scannow

How to Repair Windows 7 System Files with System File Checker
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

Then run checkdisk (chkdsk).

How to Run Disk Check in Windows 7
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html

==========================================================

After the above :

References to Vista also apply to Windows 7.

Stage 1 : Please do all the below even if you have done some before as it is often the total
process which solves the issue.

Try this - Control Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click the device - Driver's Tab -
click Update Drivers (this will likely do nothing) - then RIGHT CLICK the drive - UNINSTALL -
REBOOT this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if drive is not shown continue
below.

Then work your way through these - remember the drive could be bad, could have a loose
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then check cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just snug. For laptops you can often clean the power and
data contacts with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD drives do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the System maker and
device maker to see if there is firmware or drivers for you drive if needed.

===============================

Stage 2 : You could have drive issues as the CD/DVD is actually 4 drives in 1 case ( CD & DVD
burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 parts to not function while the others
do so properly.

Did you complete the troubleshooter for the drive that still does not work? There are some
registry entries that the troubleshooter does not fix and those "might" be the cause.

Check with your System Maker and Device maker for both possible firmware updates and the
correct Registry entries for your drive.

These are the keys I think are the ones in question - for the CD/DVD drive sub-keys of course
as there will other sub-keys in these keys. Be sure to ask for specific keys involved as well as
the settings.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Hardware Profiles\0001\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

You probably can find more info here and maybe even the exact registry settings for your
CD/DVD drive from someone with the same model.

Forums - a lot of real expert help

CD/DVD units
http://www.myce.com/storage/

Use DevManView to locate CD/DVD in registry (be careful and make a Restore Point before
changing anything) - find the device in DevManView and then Right Click on it Open in RegEdit.

DevManView - Free - an alternative to the standard Device Manager of Windows, which displays
all devices and their properties in flat table, instead of tree viewer

A recent study at Appalachian State University found that morning workouts are best if you want a better night’s sleep (and who doesn’t want that?). The researchers tracked the sleep patterns of people ages 40 to 60 who walked on a treadmill for 30 minutes, three times a week. Participants worked out at three different times: 7 a.m., 1 p.m. or 7 p.m. Turns out, those who hit the treadmill at 7 a.m. slept longer and had deeper sleep cycles than those who exercised at other points in the day. In fact, the morning crowd spent up to 75% more time in the reparative “deep sleep” stage at night.

Beats Music

Launched in 2014, Beats Music boasts a library of 20 million songs and is one of the most beautiful music recommendation apps available. Its interface is clean, modern, and intuitive. After you give it some of your favorite genres and artists, Beats generates a list of playlists made by real humans based on your tastes. "Heart" songs or "X" them to hone the recommendations. One of the most popular (if a bit gimmicky) features is "The Sentence," a fill-in-the-blank Mad Libs way of choosing music. You provide the who, what, and where, and Beats gives you a playlist it thinks matches your sentence. For example, when I chose, "I'm at work & feel like dancing with no pants on to pop," it presented me with a mix featuring Rihanna, Ke$ha, and Katy Perry. Okay, sure. Beats takes some time to understands what you really want. Its initial recommendations for me weren't spot on, but after about a week of regular use, I was pleasantly surprised by almost everything it surfaced.

replied the topic How to take better photos with iPhone ? created by findgood 644 days ago

Tip 1: Zoom With Your Feet!

Never, ever, ever, ever think about zooming with the little slider at the bottom of your screen. This is the quickest way to ruin your picture. The iPhone may have a good camera built in, but as soon as that slider moves, you can kiss your image quality goodbye.

Tip 2: Turn On Your Grid Lines

better pictures with your iphone

Grid Lines are extremely helpful when using an iPhone. This divides your picture into 9 equal boxes and really helps you with your composition. Compose your image using the law of thirds and you are sure to have an interesting picture.

Tip 3: Use Two Hands

Sure the iPhone is light and thin, but it still can move while you are taking a picture. Use two hands whenever you are taking a picture. Keep your arms in close and rest them on your body to stabilize yourself. Rest your iPhone on something sturdy if possible. Also, don’t forget that you can push the + button on the side of your iPhone to release the shutter.

Want to run a successful photo contest? Learn how here.

Tip 4: Learn AE/AF Lock

AE/AF lock can be turned on by tapping on the screen where you want to focus on/ expose for, and then holding down till the box bounces twice. This means that the place that you tapped on is where the camera focuses on and exposes for, and no matter where you move the camera those settings stay the same. This is good for backlit subjects. Say you wanted to take a better picture of 2 people, and the sun was at their back. If you just took the picture, chances are it would be way too dark because your phone exposed for the sun. If you lock the exposure on the people, they would be properly exposed and if you move around a little, no worries, they will still be well lit.

Tip 5: Use HDR For Pictures Of Landscapes

HDR has to deal with the last photo tip. It takes the exposures from different pictures and pastes them together to make a better-lit image. If take a picture with the HDR setting, your iPhone will take 3 pictures very quickly and paste them together to give you a better lit image. Don’t move when you do this. You will get a blurry image. Master Tip 3.

Tip 6: Look For Good Light!

Nobody likes to take a picture with the sun blaring right in his or her eyes. Also, nobody likes to look at those pictures. The harsh light from the sun can either cause harsh shadows all over someone’s face or wash all of the shadows out. Keep the sun at their back or stay in the shade. The pictures will definitely look better.

Tip 7: Download Camera+ photo tips

Camera + is an incredible camera photo app. You can control the exposure and focus points independently, it has a self-timer, burst mode, stabilizer and a level. It’s got it all. It’s a must have. Leave the default camera at home and use the photo app, Camera+.

Tip 8: Download Snapseed

photo tips

Snapseed is a free photo-editing app made by Google and is the best one that I have come across. The amount of things that you can do in this app is incredible. It is also super easy to use. You swipe up and down to choose which effect you want. You swipe left to right to choose the intensity of that effect. You can also export straight from Snapseed to Instagram.

Tip 9: Don’t Use Instagram Filters.

I hate hate hate Instagram filters. Every single picture on Instagram looks the same. Have some individuality and make your picture yours. Edit in Snapseed and come up with your own picture and put it on Instagram without a filter. Set yourself apart from everyone else and develop your own style. People will notice a difference.

Tip 10: Break Every Single Rule (sometimes)

In Photography there are no absolutes. This means, nothing is right and nothing is wrong. Don’t be afraid to take everything that I just told you to do and not to do and do the opposite. Take a blurry picture of someone running. Underexpose a picture and make it a silhouette. Zoom with the slider and get some artsy grain. Take an extremely bright, harsh shadow picture in the sun. Put the subject right in the middle of your frame. Do whatever and make an exception to the rule every now and then. The only thing you can’t do is use an Instagram filter.

Keep shooting and shoot raw!
