replied the topic How do different people react when others waste food? created by Chandkhan

I offer to clear the table, and slurp up the leftovers on the way to the kitchen.

I will sneak home bones in a bag or wrapped in a napkin to make broth later.

When I worked at an airport as a ramp rat, we would park many business jets. They frequently provided food trays to their passengers, such as sandwiches, meat & cheese trays, and sometimes seafood selections, such as shrimp, lobster, and crab legs. After that leg of the flight was over, they couldn't keep the food, and were directed to throw it out. I always volunteered for 'trash duty' and obtained many wonderful meals that way.

replied the topic HELP! Which Chimney can I buy? created by Sanakmaster

Most problems with fireplaces stem from the chimney being incorrectly dimensioned or not working properly. In order for a fireplace to work optimally, a chimney with an internal diameter that is bigger than the flue outlet on the fireplace should be attached. In the installation and user guides you find information about the necessary draught for the different products to function optimally.
A rule of thumb is that one meter of chimney creates four Pascal of draught. Few fireplaces can funtion on less than 12 Pascal. Sharp elbows on the flue outlet reduces the draught. If you are unsure about how your chimney works, the Jøtul retailer or the chimney sweep association can help you. You can also get help to rehabilitate your old chimney or alteratively, to install a steel chimney. Steel chimneys are reasonably priced and a satisfactory alternative to the traditional brick chimney.

replied the topic Can I consider the USB drive as a small solid state drive? created by Monitor

Both Flash and SSD are based on NAND-based flash memory, which retains data without power, and so can be labelled as Flash memory.

Technologically, the main differences between the two are in :

The underlying technology used to construct the NAND,
The quality of the Flash memory controller,
The computer connector : USB or SATA.
NAND technologies

NAND technologies diverge on two points : Speed and price.

On the one hand one finds MLC (Multi-level cell) which is a memory element capable of storing more than a single bit of information. Most MLC NAND flash memory has four possible states per cell (or even more with TLC), so it can store several bits of information per cell. This reduces the number of required transistors, so reducing size and manufacturing costs, while also reducing speed and increasing the possibility of errors.

On the other hand one finds SLC (single-level cell), where each cell can exist in one of two states, storing one bit of information per cell. This increases the access speed, while also increasing manufacturing costs and electricity usage.

An MLC cell is typically rated at 10,000 erase/write cycles, while an SLC cell might last 10 times that before failing.

Because of these differences, MLC is typically used in slower and cheaper media, accessed typically via USB. A good SSD will use SLC and be costlier, but faster, have a longer life-time and be typically accessed via SATA 2 or 3.

Memory controller

A USB mass storage controller has only a small micro-controller with a small amount of on-chip ROM and RAM.

An SSD controller is much more complicated. The controller is an embedded processor that executes firmware-level code and is one of the most important factors of SSD performance. Some of the functions performed by the controller include:

Error-correcting code (ECC)
Wear leveling
Bad block mapping
Read scrubbing and read disturb management
Read and write caching
Garbage collection
In a hybrid SSD, the controller will also manage a small classical hard disk.

A flash stick normally uses a standard-A USB plug that provides the physical interface to the host computer. These can now go up to USB-3 speeds for the more costly models, or USB-2 for the common ones.

SSD technology uses electronic interfaces compatible with traditional block input/output (I/O) internal hard disk drives. Additionally, new I/O interfaces, like SATA Express, have been designed to address specific requirements of the SSD technology. Most SSD cards are typically much faster than classical hard drives.

A Flash stick typically has less memory capacity, is slower, cheaper and is also less dependable than an SSD.

There are of course always devices that bridge these differences by using compensating technologies.

replied the topic How Imran Khan Divorced his Wife Reham Khan? created by Umar12

It has emerged that Imran Khan divorced his wife Reham Khan by text message. Pakistan's World Cup-winning captain Imran was married to Reham, a BBC TV presenter, for just 10 months. (Imran Khan Divorces Second Wife Reham Khan)
The Daily Mail, quoting sources, said the end came when Imran texted his wife the word 'talaq' (the Arabic term for 'I divorce you') written three times. This was followed by a brief email. Reham received the message when she got off a plane from Pakistan to Birmingham.
Although a statement on October 30 from Imran's political party, Pakistan Tahrik-e-Insaf, said the couple had divorced amicably, sources say it is far from the truth. Imran had lived alone for 11 years following his divorce from his first wife, Briton Jemima Goldsmith.
Imran and Jemima were married for nine years and split in 2004. The two sons from that relationship live with their mother in the UK. Imran has cordial relations with Jemima.
Sixty-two-year-old Imran and the glamorous Reham, 20 years younger, fought over everything from his friends and relatives to her attempt to keep dogs away from the bedroom, said sources.
Over the last week or so, the world has speculated over the reasons for the divorce. Reports have suggested that Reham wanted to poison Imran to grab political limelight. Pakistan Tahrik-e-Insaf is the strongest opponent of Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's government.
Reham has now blamed Black Magic as the reason behind the dramatic divorce.

But family sources have revealed Imran was getting fed-up with Reham, a divorced mother of three, for trying to gain control over his palatial hilltop house, Bani Gala Palace in Islamabad.
Daily Maily quoted family insiders saying that Reham's first major change was to throw Imran's beloved pet dogs from his bedroom.
"They were no longer allowed to sleep in their master's inner sanctum or even be there during the daytime," a source said. "Imran was upset when she had them shifted to a room outside the house and refused to budge despite his pleas.
"Then the house was re-arranged to suit the needs of Reham's youngest daughter who lived there, as well as the elder daughter and son, who often visited. Members of Reham's family pretty much came and went as they pleased. On the other hand, Imran Khan's nephews and nieces were made to feel unwelcome."
Imran's sister and family had opposed the marriage with Reham when news of their first broke in December last year. Imran married Reham in a simple ceremony in January.

replied the topic Does using a command line interface help to be a programmer? created by Zaaib

Yes, learning a command line can help teach you command syntax, command options, file and directory structure, permissions, regular expressions, and more. So, learning the command line can help you become a programmer or a better programmer than you already may be.

However, how much it helps really depends on the type of computer programmer you want to become. If you want to create web pages, server-side scripts (e.g. Perl, PHP, and Python), or anything on the Internet knowing how to use the Linux command line can help a lot. But, if you want to learn programming to make games or other programs it can still help to learn a command line interface, but it may not be as beneficial.
