I have notice using even and odd numbers when it comes to processor cores , a 5 core processor well if you look at the phyiscal layout of cores on a square chip having a odd number of cores will leave one unused slot on the chip, also intel and amd looking at what sells better seems more even core processors{2/4/6/8 and 16 cores }

replied the topic Are These Computer Specs Good? created by PaulSharon

Yes, but certainly not top tier.
The FX-6300 is better in non-gaming than gaming. Very few games today can make use of more than 4 cores of a cpu. DirectX12 early test data seems to redistribute core usage, and the CPU may do better later in the year, but in some games will lower the frame rate versus Intel i5's for example.
When not cpu bottlenecked, sample test frame rates and game settings:
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1...
http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeFo...

and is rank #45 in a laptop gaming table
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Ga...

Entry level gaming moves up a little over time as new games release with higher requirements.
It was about HD 6670 about 1000 benchmark, then HD 7750 about 1600, so now would be maybe 2500 score
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu_list.php
gtx 750 ti 3688
It is not near top cards.

Consider PS4, which is around an HD 7850 level. That is 3741, so you would be just under a PS4 system gaming capability.

Now, if PS4 is a gaming system at latest level, and you are just about there, it is certainly a gaming computer.

Quote :- My pc turns on and just sits on a black screen with a white dash
Reply :- When will people ever learn, The problem(s) start(s) and end(s) with the operating system. (Windows) It s nothing what so ever to do with the hardware. Do you know what the MBR is (Master Boot Record). It s the information that the computer looks at the second the user fire a computer up. It tells the computer everything about the hardware in use, Processor, memory, graphics chip,, sound chip, Monitor, keyboard, mouse, You name it, it s in the MBR, When windows boots up that too has it s own MBR, It s known has the win.ini file. that tells windows what hardware drivers it install and load up. what software is installed

Your problem is that Windows has corrupted the MBR so the system can t boot up hence it sits there on a blank screen with the flashing cursor waiting for instructions You need to reinstall the operating system

replied the topic a question about adding a GPU to the integrated one created by hamzababay96

Hi there, I am also having a integrated graphics card and an Asus Nvidia gt 740 in my HP laptop. The thing is when you are surfing the web or play some small games, the PC is using the integrated one. When you are playing some big games which require more system resources, your PC will automatically switch to the dedicated Nvidia card. But these two won't be working together in my experience.

replied the topic Windows Media Player Crashing created by Leehom

Step 1: Let's run the Media Player troubleshooter and check if this helps.
1. Press Windows key + X and click on Control Panel.
2. Select small icons under view by category and click on Troubleshooting.
3. Click on View all.
4. Run the troubleshooter for Windows Media Player Library and Windows Media Player Settings one by one and apply the fix to complete. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.
Step 2: You may boot the computer in a clean boot state and check if the issue persists.
Putting your system in Clean Boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. You need to follow the steps from the article mentioned below to perform a Clean Boot.
How to perform a clean boot in Windows
Note: Refer "How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting" to reset the computer to start as normal after troubleshooting.
Step 3: Turn Windows features on or off
Right click Start button, clickPrograms & Features
ClickTurn Windows features on or off (in left top corner)
When features window appears, click to uncheck Windows Media Player and click OK.
Restart the computer.
Follow the same instructions as above to check the same feature back on and click OK.
Restart the computer and check if it works.
Step 4: You may run the SFC scannow tool and restart the computer to check if the issue persists. SFC /scannow is a super-useful command you can use in any Windows version. When the SFC (System File Checker) command is used with the /scannow switch, the tool will scan all of the important Windows files on your computer and replace them as necessary. Missing and corrupt operating system files (like many DLL files) are arguably the biggest cause of major Windows issues.
Refer to these steps to perform a SFC scan:
a) Right click Start button, click Command prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated command prompt.
b) In the command prompt type the following command: sfc /scannow and press enter.

replied the topic How do I get the entire drive in a single partition? created by Link

To use any drive over 2.19 TB you will need:
A computer using Windows Vista or later (Windows XP isn't compatible with GPT formatted disks, so it can't see them)
A sata controller that is compatible (to find out if it is compatible, find out what motherboard or add-on board SATA controller you have and google it-e.g. Intel ICH8 3TB )
A drive that is larger than 2.19 TB
So, if you know that you meet all three of the above requirements, follow proper installation procedures with installing a new drive and just hook it up. Depending on where you bought the drive and if it is OEM or Retail it may or may not come pre-formatted with an NTFS partition of 2TB (this is for convenience to keep people from getting upset when they hook the drive up and it doesn't appear in My Computer).

Now, go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management. Choose Disk Management on the left and you should see in the lower portion of the screen a list of your installed drives. The larger drive should appear in the list with a capacity displaying on the left. Note, a 3TB drive will only have a storage capacity of LOWER than 3TB (read: when you add formatting and a file system, both of those require space on the drive, so you will not have a full 3TB of space to use-this is the nature of hard drives-you will never have the full stated capacity-ever since it is required to make the drive useable).

Now, assuming you're using it as a data storage drive, ensure that nothing is still stored on it and right click on the partition on the right, right click the partition (if there is one on the drive already) and click "Delete Volume".

Next, right click on the name on the left "Disk #" and choose "Convert to GPT Disk". Now this should allow you to right click on the unformatted space on the right and to create a new partition which can hold the full available capacity of your drive.

This should work with all versions of Windows Vista and Windows 7 (with the only exception being a starter edition *may not*).

With the variety of systems now sold using UEFI instead of BIOS, you can today on those systems install Windows directly onto a drive greater than 2.19TB in size. Just ensure that your computer actually is using it before attempting to run Windows on a drive that large. It's also probably not a great idea just due to the fact that if Windows fails you will likely lose all the data on that partition.

replied the topic Keep your pc plugged in until this is done installing update 1 of 1 created by Link

It looks like an update offered from Windows Update is getting installed on the computer. It’s actually trying to configure the update first and then it would install.

Usually, Windows Update would configure update during the boot period. If it stays for a long time, use a hard reset step to try and avoid the screen. Press and hold power button for a few seconds. Laptop would shut down. Now, restart the laptop using the power button and then check if you are able to boot normally. You may try multiple times and check if you still receive the same screen and it takes the same amount of time. If yes, follow the steps from the link to restore the computer to an earlier point:
Refer to the section “If you can't start Windows” under “My computer hangs or freezes at the Starting Windows screen”
