Windows Media Player "Play To" stopped working? Reward $5
Created by arealrad1, 260 days ago, 1297 views

Window Media Player in Windows 7 has stopped detecting my Blu Ray Player. When I attempt to stream a video from my PC to my Blu Ray Player, under the Play To drop down menu, it states that no media devices are found?? It was working a day ago and there have been no changes to my system. I have checked Windows Firewall, all Streaming options in both WMP and Homegroup. In the Streaming Options it shows my Blu Ray Player and "allowed" is selected so it seems my PC is detecting the Blu Ray Player but WMP is not. There must be some disconnect between WMP and the rest of my system? I have also deactivated WMP and then reactivated it which is the same as uninstalling and reinstalling it with no effect. Since it's not a settings, firewall, or installation problem I am at a total loss and out of ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Hi,

You may check the settings in Windows Media Player. To choose devices and computers that can access your media follow the below given steps.

Click the Start button, click All Programs, and then click Windows Media Player.
If the Player is currently open and you’re in Now Playing mode, click the Switch to Library button in the upper-right corner of the Player.

Click Stream, and then click ‘More streaming options’.
More streaming options won't appear on the Stream menu until after you turn on home media streaming.

On the Media streaming options page, do any of the following:
If you want to stream media to all computers and devices on your network, click Allow All.
If you don't want to stream media to any computers or devices on your network, click Block All.
If you want to stream media to some computers and devices, click either Allowed or Blocked on the menu next to each item in the list of computers and devices.
Click OK.
For more details on Play to settings follow the links given below.

4- Click OK to confirm that you want to remove the device.
5- Restart your computer (Once the restart is complete, the Operating System will automatically install the required drivers).

@chakramed
Hey, Thanks for trying to help but I am not having any problems with my DVD/CD Drive. My problem is with Windows Media Player not detecting any media devices and therefore can not stream any videos to my Blu Ray Player, that's connected to my TV, not the one in the PC its self. You see I was able to stream media from my PC, using WMP, through my Sony Blu Ray Player to my TV. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)
Sincerely yours,
Jeff
