@gcletis
The best format is .vob format...
However save yourself the stress of saving it in any format let windows DVD maker do it for you with different styles and customizations, you can even personalize the DVD information displays, it also has pre-installed themes and very easy to use....
Download it from here http://www.windows-dvd-maker.com

@gcletis

check your bluray player manual, some plays DivX, MKV, MP4 contents.

How to Solve DVD Player Won't Play AVI Issue?

Most DVD players only accept MPEG-2 in standard VOBs. Some of the older standalone DVD players do not play AVI at all. Now some of the newer DVD players support AVI encoded with DivX.

Use MP4 for if you want to be sure it will play.

Mkv format has very nice quality but check to see if your Dvd player supports it. You can check by searching does "dvd player model" support mkv? On google.

VOB format will be highly preferred if you want to play your video in a DVD Player b'coz it is supported even in old DVD Players.There are lots of software available in market to convert videos into any format. Morever , if you use VOB format , you can use DVD player to play video from USB drive

All DVD Players read VOB file (Video On Board). There are software that convert Video files to a bunch of VOB files and write them onto a blank DVD.
Newer DVD players typically can play MP4, AVI, MKV files. some older ones could play AVI filesy. Real old DVD players only play VOB.
MKV is becoming very popular because it can handle multi audio and subtitles.

Stick with the basics if your not fussed, that would be avi, wmv or mpg, you can't go wrong, I found as a basic mpg would be best over avi, just avi files sizes are sometimes smaller, I mostly use MP4 or MKV as readable files not burnt to disc though, just placing onto HDD.
