You definitely have to download Spotify! Right now its the best music player. Almost all songs are there and you can listen to them for free with ads(usually 1-2 ads per hour) or use Premium(6 or 7 Euro per month - pretty cheap. You get music without ads and in FLAC quality, also you will be able to listen to music from your android device.). There are a lot of pre-made playlists: For specific mood, for specific weather, for specific day time, for specific weekday and more and they are updated frequently. Also there is a function, that allows you to control your desktop player from phone and vice versa. Give it a try and you won't be upset! Have fun with it !:3

The application which fits you best must be "Spotify": http://qz.com/628812/spotify-is-using-an-anonymous-army-of-50000-hipsters-to-find-hot-new-songs/

Beats Music

Launched in 2014, Beats Music boasts a library of 20 million songs and is one of the most beautiful music recommendation apps available. Its interface is clean, modern, and intuitive. After you give it some of your favorite genres and artists, Beats generates a list of playlists made by real humans based on your tastes. "Heart" songs or "X" them to hone the recommendations. One of the most popular (if a bit gimmicky) features is "The Sentence," a fill-in-the-blank Mad Libs way of choosing music. You provide the who, what, and where, and Beats gives you a playlist it thinks matches your sentence. For example, when I chose, "I'm at work & feel like dancing with no pants on to pop," it presented me with a mix featuring Rihanna, Ke$ha, and Katy Perry. Okay, sure. Beats takes some time to understands what you really want. Its initial recommendations for me weren't spot on, but after about a week of regular use, I was pleasantly surprised by almost everything it surfaced.

There are actually a lot of ways to discover new music. For instance, if you like the music that is played during a movie or television show, wait for the credits of the video and research the musicians. If you can't find it there, simply google the show, the date aired, etc and it will give you the credits and the music scoring. Another alternative is to listen to a genre that you might not have actually experimented with before. Leonard Cohen (Hallelujah, I'm Your Man, and many others) is sort of Ecclectic Jazz. Missy Higgins (Where I stood)... Progressive Pop.

I also found that International music has an interest to me. YouTube has a myriad of musicians from all genres, and tho you might not actually understand the lyrics, the music itself is quite compelling. Ceu (Brazil)

or Juris (Philippines)
or
... the point is to broaden your appreciation for different music genres. Here's some really great sounds: Al Marconi (Redemption)
... Alicia Keyes (If I Ain't Got You)
... Saint Privat (Poisson Rouge)

And there are so many others. By experiencing International genres you're not only opening your mind to different music scores and ideas but also broadening your intellectual sights as well. Who knows? A piece of foreign music may even compel you to learn a new language! At the very least, you will have learned to appreciate different musical ideas.

Open your mind and explore the amazing world of music, of love, of passion, and of life. Leave no stone unturned.

I bid you peace!

I find the best way is to Google a phrase like "bands like alice cooper" , or whatever band I am into at the time. It returns related searches, lists from sources like last.fm, allmusic, and MTv, user created lists of similar artist.. A wealth of artists in the genre you are looking for. I have found many new bands that way that I may have never heard of before and that quickly become new favorites for me.
