Rooting allows any program to make any change on your device. This can install unwanted programs if you do not know all the details about the particular program which can cause havoc on your device and even make it unusable. It is mainly for the protection of the client and avoid the company handling too many problems of fixing your device again.

I could imagine that the manufacturers do not allow this to prevent a manipulation of the software which could cause an abuse of the warranty. So if it was allowed to root the phone and the phone gets rooted and someone changes anything which results a total breakdown of the Android OS, the person would have the right to use his warranty, because it was not forbidden.

Because people who don't know what they are doing will complain to the manufactorer or even worse to everybody else about the stupid manufacturer when they cannot figure out how to flash their phone or if they succeed how to solve any problems they experience with the new rom.

That is a security measure by default. Android was based on the Linux architecture, and for security Android and Linux require a user to use different System Privileges.

For example, accessing files on the Home (or Default) folder would only require normal privileges, but accessing system files (which could affect security and stability) would require Superuser or Root privileges.

Also, apps for simple web browsing would require normal user privileges, while apps that can modify system defaults (like in Android) would require Root privileges. Having the Root privilege available by default would definitely put the system at risk. If a hacker or malicious app can reach a rooted device by default, they will have all the means to execute changes on a system, which could allow them to do heinous crimes like stealing private information.

However, the downside of not having Root access is not owning your device entirely, since only some other people (like the manufacturer) can modify your device. Unrooted devices commonly have bloatware (like Hangouts) which many users don't probably need, taking up memory space.

If you require a rooted device, you can use Superuser combined with Link2SD for more control over the system. However, be aware that there is a risk in letting your device rooted by default.

Cheers!

If you root the android device, then the programs on the gadget can get access to your bank account without your permission and steal your money. That's it.

if you get android from a carrier it comes with preinsatlled applications, some or most carriers/devices wont let users uninstall these applications by default. Android is free OS, to make money google/developpers use advertisement, to properly block this ads you neet rooted device, so Androids aren’t rooted from the factory and the reason is that GOOGLE do not like that ROOT :).
