Yes, it will decrease your laptop's battery life if you frequently drain its charge.

A discharge leaves a permanent damage on the battery's metal plates / sheets due to the release of electrons. A charged battery should release energy from the chemical paste inside it, not from the metal inside it. However when this paste lost its charge, the plates are forced to give off electrons.

I recommend you to charge your laptop's battery when it already reaches 20% of charge. Better yet, I recommend you to keep it plugged in because laptops nowadays do trickle charging, so you will not overcharge the battery yet you keep it fully charged. Reducing the number of charge-discharge cycles increases its expected life.
